Hearts Of Oak Appoint Slavko Matic As New Head Coach

Hearts of Oak have announced Serbia trainer Slavko Matic as the club’s new coach after the sack of Samuel Boadu.

The Serbian has signed a two-year contract with the Phobians and has been tasked to win the Ghana Premier League title and the FA Cup.

Matic is a holder of the UEFA Pro Licence and has vast experience having managed clubs in Europe and in Asia.

As a player, the 46-year-old played for OFK BeogradSpartak MoscowPFC Slavia Sofia, and PFC CSKA Sofia.

Also as a coach, Matic has handled Serbian sides Napredak Krusevac, OFK Beograd, Novi Pavar, and FK Sloboda Uzice.
He has also coached in Qatar where he was in charge of Al-Shamal SC and Al Ahli Doha.
Matic previously worked in Saudi Arabia where he was head coach of Al-Nojoom FC for a short-term spell.
Matić had a short stint as manager of Arda Kardzhali between 12 November and 16 December 2021, being released from his duties following a controversial interview, in which he revealed serious issues inside the club. Matic was hired as Septemvri Sofia coach, a team from the second tier of Bulgarian football, in early 2022.

Matic became unattached after leaving Bulgarian club Septemvri Sofia a few weeks ago after an unpleasant start to the 2022-23 season.
Matic played 29 matches in charge of Septemvri where he claimed 12 wins, drew 7, and lost 10 times since taking over in January 2022.

The former Serbian defender has been in Ghana for negotiations and other familiarities since last Tuesday.

“We are glad to have Slavko Matic as our new Head Coach. Let’s welcome our new Gaffer”, Hearts of Oak announced in a post.
